  • Effective Communication (EDEC 202) - Winter 2012 & Winter 2013: This fully online course is designed to improve English writing and/or speaking skills of pre-service teachers preparing for the EETC Exam (English Exam for Teacher Certification). Content focused on building effective writing skills for a variety of academic and professional situations.
  • Media, Technology and Education (EDEC 262) - Fall 2012: This course provides an orientation to the equipment and systems of educational technology. This course examines theories of  educational technology, media education and technology education and the exploration and development of possible applications in school settings.
  •  Communication in Education (EDEC 203) - Fall 2012: This course provides an overview of   written and oral communication in Education (in English). The course includes an emphasis on strategies for identifying, analyzing and solving writing and speaking problems. Course work is based on academic and professional communication in education, with a particular focus on classroom communication.
  • Expressive Writing (EDEC 208) - Fall 2012: This course focuses on strategies for writing authentic, authoritative texts as well as achieving correct grammar and appropriate style as well as the drafting and revising of a collection of short non-fiction pieces in a collaborative setting.

  • Facilitated focus groups and process mapping sessions for various units across the University in support of their process improvement initiatives and designed and delivered various staff workshops, including Train-the-Trainer and created an online community of practice learning environment for HR Advisors in WebCT.

  • Designed, developed and launched various online training courses and tutorials for students and staff using Flash, Captivate, and Adobe Presenter amongst other tools. Delivered face-to-face workshops for professors and trained administrative staff on a variety of IT systems such as WebCT Vista and Banner. In addition, prepared course documentation, wrote instructional documents with procedural information, and wrote help text in for web interface of central administrative Information System.

  • Assisted Faculty of Arts professors with technology integration in their teaching; designed, facilitated and conducted one-on-one sessions and half-day workshops to train professors on applications such as WebCT (CE) and PowerPoint. Initiated and coordinated special projects and acted as a liaison between faculty professors and central technology and learning departments throughout the University.

Designed and developed various courses as needed, working closely with the IT Implementation team.

Working with the Center for Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL), I provided ongoing consultation and support to COIL’s Director and staff, SUNY faculty and their international partners in pedagogical practice in their globally networked teaching. In this capacity, activities included co-writing a SUNY-wide faculty guide for developing globally networked courses, co-writing and conceptualizing an NEH Grant application which led to a three-year national institute for globally networked learning in the humanities. Additionally, I coordinated, administered and tracked faculty partnerships between SUNY and EHU (European Humanities University) in Lithuania. Additionally, in this role I represented SUNY at a number of scholarly events, and promoted globally networked learning as an innovative means to internationalize curriculum.
